Southern Getaway

Voda Krasna

I was planning a weekend beach getaway with my siblings, but we were low on budget. Hence, the popular resorts in Mactan were automatically ruled out. There were a lot of options found on the net, but we wanted somewhere near with easy accessibility. So our list was narrowed down to beaches on the southern part of Cebu.

Searching further, I found Voda Krasna – affordable but equally enchanting. It was just perfect for our needs. They have cottages for two to ten people! Best part of it is the semi-furnished kitchen which allows guests to bring in food and cook.

So without second thoughts, we booked for the cottage that accommodates ten and invited a few close relatives. After a speedy planning and an hour of preparation, we hit the road; dropped by Robinson’s along the way for a quick grocery shopping; and stopped over at Carcar for some fruits, fresh fish, hanging rice, and its famous lechon (roasted pig, the Filipino way).

Voda Krasna is located in the town of Daanlungsod, Alcoy – about two hours drive from Talisay City. It is easy to find and is conveniently situated along the South National Road. Parking space is available within the resort. And although the town is generally quiet and safe, the gate is always closed and guarded day and night.

Tropical plants surround the area. A carpet of lush green bermuda rolls from the main entrance to the inner courtyards, the reception on the left and the cottages on the right.
Overlooking from the resort’s main level is a magnificent view of Cebu Straight and nearby islands.

The beachfront which is several steps below is uniquely lanscaped, with a few more cottages perched atop gigantic rocks. Its white sandy shore widens during low tide and exposes a partly rocky seabed. Nevertheless, the waters within 10meters (from the shore) is aquamarine clear and inviting. Thus, we all swam in the coolness of the early morning breeze the following day and frolicked around with our goggles. We were lucky the weather was fine – just perfect for a leisurely swim and beach photography.
