Binibining Pilipinas 2013 Coronation Night was a night to remember. After much anticipation from fans and supporters across the nation, it was successfully held last Sunday, the 14th of April at the Araneta Center. It was a night of celebration and tribute to true Filipina beauty.

Dubbed as Binibining Pilipinas Gold in celebration of its 50th year anniversary, this year’s pageant night was as glamorous and festive as can be, with the parade of its title holders from 1964 to 2012 an opening production highlight. The intense Q&A portion drew thunderous cheers and screams from the TOP 15’s supporters. It was after all “the moment” that could either make or break the candidates’ dream of becoming a beauty queen. At the final stretch, the judges hailed four new ladies, befitting the titles and crowns, to compete  in this year’s international pageants.

Miss Philippines to date has crowned 159 deserving women in a span of 5 decades. Thus, the country echoes the sound of gratitude and salutes Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta, Chairperson of Binibining Pilipinas Charities, for her unparallelled dedication to the cause.

And of course, special mention goes to the pageant night’s presenters, singer Martin Nievera and actress Dawn Zulueta. The pair appeared to be the perfect choice for the said event. They were joined by Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner-up Venus Raj and Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-up Shamcey Supsup.

“Martin’s usual high-spirited self was matched by Dawn’s quiet grace and unassuming eloquence. The latter held the audience together with her natural hosting flare and sophisticated elegance (despite not feeling perfectly well). Donning Cary Santiago’s creations especially tailored for her, Dawn simply stole the night away with her statuesque regal bearing. All attention and praise befell on this timeless beauty. She reigned  on Twitter’s trending topics with hashtag #DawnZulueta, unintentionally outshining the candidates. Viewers at the big dome and those in their respective homes amusingly referred to her as Binibini 51, and crowned her Queen of the Night on Twitter World.” (dawnlovers.com)

Congratulations, Dawn Zulueta, for wowing the audience with your beauty and talent. Congratulations to all the ladies who now have a title before their names and who now wear a diamond-studded tiara on their heads. Good luck on your respective global competitions.

"The beauty of the truth is that it need not be proclaimed or believed. It skips from soul to soul, changing form each time it touches, but it is what it is."— Mark Helprin
